Jeffrey Poritz

Born on February 20, 1988, in Tampa, Florida, Jeffrey Poritz moved to Broward County at just three years old. By age 11, after struggling in school, he was introduced to the Police Athletic League boxing program, a moment that would change the direction of his life. Growing up in a single-parent household, Jeff found structure, mentorship, and consistency inside the boxing gym.

Surrounded by positive male role models and guided by the discipline of the sport, he stayed focused while many of his childhood friends were lost to the opioid epidemic that deeply impacted Broward County. Boxing became the foundation for Jeff’s future. At 19, he started his own construction company, applying the same discipline, dedication, and work ethic he learned in the ring.

By 23, he began coaching amateur boxers, helping young athletes pursue professional boxing careers while also encouraging them to graduate from college, build careers, and become leaders in their communities. For more than a decade, Jeff has personally funded equipment, uniforms, and travel for countless boxers, never charging athletes for his time or training. His fighters and coaching have been featured in over 40 televised bouts, and his construction company has earned seven awards for excellence in commercial contracting across South Florida.

In addition, Jeff has mentored multiple small construction businesses, helping them grow into successful and sustainable operations. Today, Jeff combines his business experience and lifelong passion for boxing to give back to the community that shaped him. Through his nonprofit work, he continues to create safe spaces, mentorship, and opportunity for young people—offering the same guidance and support that once changed his own life.
